Memorial Arboretum Added to Canada’s Largest Veteran Care Facility through GrandTrees and Sunnybrook Partnership
On Wednesday, September 23rd, a special ceremony was held at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto to acknowledge the addition of the Sunnybrook Memorial Arboretum. Nearly 500 trees and shrubs were added; including a very special Vimy Oak, a direct descendent from those that sprouted acorns brought back from the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
PLP Program in Full Swing Thanks to our Partnership with Forests Ontario
Thanks to our partnership with Forests Ontario, we were able to expand our Private Landowner Partnership Program to 30km from the highway 401, between Windsor and Cornwall. This expansion means that more landowners can get involved in having a piece of the worlds largest living tribute in their own backyard.

Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign Plants 300 Trees in Pickering with Canadian Armed Forces and Community Volunteers
On Saturday, May 25th, uniformed officers from the Canadian armed forces joined local volunteers to plant 300 trees at the Petticoat Creek Conservation Area in Pickering, Ontario on behalf of the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign, adding to the nearly 100,000 trees that have been planted to date in connection with the project. The event was sponsored by construction management firm, Harrington & Associates.

To support the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign, the 2019 Federal Budget proposes to provide $2.9 million over three years, starting in 2019-20, through Veterans Affairs Canada.
Veterans and Military families call on the Government of Canada for more support to the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign
OTTAWA, Feb. 21, 2019 – Representatives and supporters of the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign are asking for increased support from the Government of Canada. The campaign will fund the planting of 2,000,000 trees between Trenton and Toronto, one tree for every Canadian that has served during times of conflict. 117,000 of the most prominent trees will be planted along and near the stretch of the 401 known as the Highway of Heroes, one tree for every life lost while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Highway Of Heroes Tree Campaign Continues to Grow in Whitby
Friday, November 2nd, the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign planted 300 trees at Intrepid Park in Whitby with the help of uniformed officers from the Canadian Armed Forces and local volunteers. The tree planting took place at the former site of Camp X, the legendary secret paramilitary training installation for covert agents during the second world war.

On October 27th, The Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign was featured at a special TD Tree Day to recognize TD Bank Group’s $500,000 contribution and ongoing support for current and future tree planting endeavours. The event, held in Scarborough, saw local volunteers gather to plant 300 trees and shrubs which will add to the total of over 1,200 trees already planted at this specific site, in connection to the campaign.

On October 20, uniformed officers from the Canadian armed forces joined local volunteers to plant 300 trees in Cobourg, Ontario on behalf of the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign, in partnership with Tree Canada and Home Hardware, adding to the nearly 100,000 trees that will have been planted by the end of 2018. Through the generous support of Tree Canada and Home Hardware, the Highway of Heroes will continue to be converted into the largest living memorial ever constructed.
Growing the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign
On Thursday, May 24th, TD Bank Group announced an increased commitment to the campaign of $500,000 to support current and future tree planting endeavours. To mark the occasion, hundreds of volunteers, including elementary school students, Veterans and currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, gathered at Meadowvale Rd. and the 401 to plant 500 trees in connection to the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign.
