$500,000 Gift Celebrated with 500 New Trees

On Thursday, May 24th, TD Bank Group announced an increased commitment to the campaign of $500,000 to support current and future tree planting endeavours. To mark the occasion, hundreds of volunteers, including elementary school students, Veterans and currently serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, gathered at Meadowvale Rd. and the 401 to plant 500 trees in connection to the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign.

Mobilizing the Troops

Dozens of members of the Canadian Army from 32nd Canadian Brigade Group turned out to help get these trees planted. Arriving in full uniform, these soldiers engaged in a different kind of battle than what we are used to seeing, the fight against climate change.
