Whitby This Week
WHITBY — One week after the 75th anniversary of D-Day, efforts to honour Canada’s fallen heroes continue to take root locally and beyond.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was recently in France to mark the historic milestone, dropped by Durham on June 14 for a Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign event at Intrepid Park. Three hundred additional trees were planted at the Whitby site, which was a top secret spy training school known as Camp X during the Second World War.
