Private Carson was born in Wiarton, Ontario and enlisted in his hometown with the 160 battalion February 29,1916.

He arrived in England aboard the S.S. Metagama on October 28,1916, where he stayed until he was transferred to the 4th reserve battalion on February 23, 1918.

Carson was posted to the 18th battalion shortly thereafter and arrived at Etaples, France at No. 2 Canadian infantry base on March 29, 1918.

Private Carson was wounded during a major attack near Vimy Ridge and admitted to No.11 stationary hospital in Rouen, France, where his status was updated to “dangerously ill” on August 12,1918. He died of his wounds in hospital on August 18,1918.

Carson was buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension Rouen, France at grave site No. Q.IV.K.22.
