Honouring our military. Cooling the environment. Beautifying North America’s most travelled highway.

90,000 TREES

We’ve now planted over 90,000 trees from Trenton to Toronto. We are well on our way to planting 2-million trees, one for every Canadian that volunteered during wartime including 117,000 that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you for your support!

Honouring our military, cooling the environment and beautifying North America’s most travelled highway.

When a member of Canada’s Armed Forces falls in combat, his or her final journey is along the Highway of Heroes from CFB Trenton to the Coroner’s Office in Toronto.

We are planting 2 million trees along the 401 Highway of Heroes, a tribute to the men and women who fought for Canada in our wars, and a living memorial to the 117,000 who sacrificed their lives for freedom.

Every Canadian can be a part of this historic tribute.  Look at the names on the cenotaph in YOUR community.  Help us to honour those from YOUR community and ensure their spirit lives on in a living tribute!

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Joins The Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs to Celebrate the Highway of Heroes Living Tribute

Prime Minister Trudeau takes part in a tree planting ceremony along the Highway of Heroes in Whitby. June 14, 2019. //Le premier ministre Trudeau participe à une cérémonie de plantation d’arbre le long de l’Autoroute des héros à Whitby. 14 juin 2019.

On Friday, June 14th, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, joined the Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Veterans Affairs, to attend a Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign community event. There, Canadian Armed Forces member, Corporal Nick Kerr, was presented with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation for outstanding dedication to volunteer work with the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign. The Prime Minister and Minister MacAulay also highlighted the 2019 Federal Budget proposal to provide $2.9 million through Veterans Affairs Canada over three years, to support the construction of the Highway of Heroes Living Tribute. By the end of our 2018 fiscal year, our campaign raised $3.5 million of our $10 million goal and planted nearly 100,000 trees towards our 2 million tree goal. All of this wouldn’t be possible without your support.

Check out our 2017-18 Year in Review for all the success we have achieved together.

Recently, we sat down with Don Cherry, Legendary Canadian Media personality and a Champion of the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign.
