It is our honour to let you, our cherished supporters, in on a bit of good news. Earlier this year, we received a two-year $500,000 Grow Grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant will allow us to expand our successful highway plantings within the City of Toronto!

Beginning this month, we will expand our work along 401 in Toronto, adding more than 20,000 trees to Toronto’s tree canopy.

We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant Review Committee for this generous investment in our work. With their support we will be able to plant more trees along the Highway of Heroes, 20,000 more trees for 20,000 more heroes.

To date the campaign has planted nearly 20,000 trees throughout the city of Toronto. This funding will help to double that number, resulting in a substantial increase to Toronto’s tree canopy.

We begin in just a few short days. Our work to improve soil conditions and promote tree survival includes invasive species removal. This results in immediate improvements to the local environment. We can’t wait to show you this amazing work so stay tuned.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded $115 million to 644 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario. Their $500,000 Grow Grant to the Highway of Heroes Tree Campaign is an investment not only to our work but in future generations and the environment we leave to them.

This is a tremendous achievement, one that we should all share. We couldn’t have done it without you

Thank you!
