How much does a tree cost?

The cost to plant trees along a major transportation corridor vary greatly based on tree size, species, soil conditions and access. For most plantings along the highway there will be a mixture of trees, governed by our tree planting master plan and with the guidance of our partners at the MTO. Generally, the trees are between 1 and 1.5 metres tall when planted. Many locations in the transportation corridor require significant soil remediation. The ground is often heavily compacted and filled with sand and gravel as a result of the highway construction process. We want to give the trees every chance to survive and thrive so ongoing care of the trees through a maintenance program is critical. A portion of the funds raised are dedicated to the ongoing maintenance of young trees.
